Refund Policy for Back to the Books. Last Updated: March 12, 2026.
Back to the Books is committed to providing transparent, professional, and reliable tax services. This Refund Policy explains how refunds are handled for consultations, tax preparation, and tax planning services.

Consultation Fees: Consultation fees are non‑refundable. Consultations involve professional time, expertise, and guidance, and the fee reflects the value of that work regardless of whether additional services are requested.

Hourly Tax Preparation and Tax PlanningTax: Hourly tax preparation and tax planning services are billed at $125 per hour. Any completed work is non‑refundable. If you prepaid for services and did not use all of the purchased time, the unused portion may be refunded. Time spent reviewing documents, communicating, researching, preparing forms, or performing any tax‑related work is considered billable and therefore non‑refundable.

E‑Filing Fee: The $100 e‑filing fee is non‑refundable once your return has been submitted for electronic filing. If you cancel before e‑filing occurs, the filing fee may be refunded, but any completed work remains non‑refundable.

How Refunds Are Calculated: Refunds for unused time are calculated based on the hourly rate of $125 and the amount of work already completed. Example: If you prepaid for 4 hours and only 2 hours were used, you may receive a refund for the remaining 2 hours.
